Many of our patients come to us for a variety of reasons ranging from preventative care to implant restorations. In most cases, with regular preventative care visits, our patients can schedule an appointment every six months and be on the right path to a happy, healthy mouth! Other times, additional care is needed whether it be to fill a cavity, get fitted for dentures, or to further protect teeth with sealants.

In the next few blogs, we will focus on breaking down all the services we offer in a series of posts, followed by an interview with Dr. Drew himself. In our interview we will get the doctors view on adequate preventative care measures, the practice philosophy and what makes Raccio & Drew a good choice for all your dental needs.

Preventative Care

The best method for avoiding major dental issues, is to prevent them from happening! It is recommended that you schedule a dental cleaning every six months or follow your dentist’s recommendation based on your personal oral health. For some high-risk patients, more frequent visits may be recommended to ensure the most effective preventative care. In following your recommended health care regimen, you are taking the appropriate steps to safeguard against major dental issues down the line. This may include tooth loss and other periodontal disease. Of course, it is important to adopt a routine of brushing a minimum of 2x per day and flossing at least once.

Fillings/Restorations

Fillings as defined by the ADA are, “a lay term used for the restoring of lost tooth structure by using materials such as metal, alloy, plastic or porcelain.” In our office, we use materials to create functional, long-lasting, and natural-looking results.

Dental Sealants

As mentioned earlier, to prevent cavities, brushing and flossing regularly and effectively is a must. The crevices of our chewing molars, though, are a favorite hideout for food and cavity forming bacteria. It can be difficult to keep these areas clean. Sealants provide a coating to your teeth as an extra measure of protection from cavities. Brushing and flossing is still required, but sealants can help to help prevent food from remaining on the tooth surface and cavities from forming.
